Hi! I'm Aubrey.

Hi! I'm Aubrey.
I am an artist based in LA (but from the good 'ol Midwest). This blog is a record of my life as a painter/artist. It is here to help me keep my place and motivation, ground me to learning and be a connection to other artists.

If you are interested in purchasing existing work, please visit my etsy site here. If you are interested in commissioning an original artwork, e-mail me at aubrey.studebaker@gmail.com

I did this for my sister Stephanie on a window. This is in-progress (I forgot to take a pic when it was all finished and the backer came off the window.)

My what-not shelf. Quite a good place to keep all those little things (pretty business cards, shells, museum tokens, uncle wiggley, plastic ninjas, fortunes, etc...) that you like very much but have no idea what to do w/.
This is the ravine again -this time near the Park of Roses in Clintonville. People in the painting are: Chrissy, Stacey and me.
One of my vices is playing with and making things w/ beeds...Here is a necklace that I made last weekend. Woot!
The ravine and Walhalla Rd. in Clintonville have been the inspiration for many of my paintings of late. I think the reason that I'm most interested in it is that it is smack dab in the middle of Columbus, but it feels like you might be in the hills of Kentucky. It's a great taste of nature w/out even having to drive anywhere.

This was painted from a photo taken looking up at a tree top along Walhalla Rd. I painted this entirely w/ a palette knife because I like the texture and wanted to keep the painting loose and natural.

Okay...I need to post something but I do not have the images digitally yet. In order to keep myself accountable, here is a list of images which I will post in the near future:
1) Walhalla w/ a pallet knife
2) Ravine Reference Walk
3) Some old sketches/paintings that I dug up when cleaning my room
4) Pic of display at Wild Goose Creative space (displaying from Feb-April)
5) Perhaps some non-painting related crafts that I've been working on?

I know, I know: Now all three followers of this blog are drooling. Haha. (o:
